Emma Goodwin

Treasurer, Safeguarding & Training Officer

I first started riding when I was 10 years old and soon became hooked! Spending most of my weekends and holidays at my local riding stables, working hard all day, in the hope of a free ride!! I had my first horse, Penfold, on loan when I was 16, for 6 months, before he returned to the stables. A few years later when I was driving to work one day I noticed Penfold in a field, I returned at lunchtime to give him my apple and his owner appeared. We started talking and it was arranged that I would take him for a ride the next day, a Wednesday, by the Saturday I’d purchased him and he was back in my field!

2 years later I was married and having my first child so Penfold went on loan where he sadly passed away a year later. I then had a massive 10 year break until my daughter, Sophie, got the bug for horses. After she spent 18 months learning to ride at the same stables as I had, we purchased her first pony in October 2013 and horses have been a massive part of our life’s since, with my second daughter, Lucy, also hooked!!

I joined the Cornwall TREC Group committee in early 2016 as a general member later taking on the role of Secretary and loved it! Now stepping up to Treasurer the fun continues.

I love being team Trec, we are a very friendly group, and watching our members achieve their goals, whether it’s competing or training, it certainly puts a smile on my face. Horses are a lifestyle and I absolutely love it!!
