The morning consisted of a
Training session for those who wanted to get started with or learn more about
the sport of TREC. The turnout for the morning was very good. Verity Perry did
a demo with her Dressage horse - Armani.
Sue Mawer and Smiler were
the only combination in the Open class but being an experience TREC partnership
gave the newbies another chance to watch how it is done.
All the competitors did
really well and if anyone got a bit stuck, Jane Fisher was there to lend a hand
and offer advice for the future.
The top score of the Novices
was 73.75% which was achieved by Hayley Kidd from Rosevidney.
Cornwall TREC Group would
like to thank all at Scott & Verity at Rosevidney for all the support and
help they and their staff offered on the day.
The fourth
of the Cornwall Trec Group Points Series Showing Shows proved to be a success.
This our second event held at Polean, Nr Pelynt this winter. A large, light
airy indoor School with a large collecting area gives the Shows a really
friendly feel with lots of chat and support. Our friendly judge on this
occasion was Di Wilson who had the usual unenviable task of picking out the
prize winners. Our Steward for the day was the ever helpful Graham Bunney.
Without these people who give up their days there would be no events. The Mini
Trec competition which is held over the Judges Lunch break was a busy event.
Each event seems to inspire more riders to have a go.
The fight
for the 2009/2010 Points Championship is really hotting up!!

The rough weather we have
been having as well as the weather warnings that had been given out all weekend
meant that the turnout for the 3rd of our indoor points series
showing shows was pretty poor. However, those that managed to get there had a
nice time and learnt something from the very informativeand friendly judge Mr K R Rowlands.
We have been really pleased
with the feedback that we are getting from our competitors. The judges have
been carefully chosen by Lucy & Laurie Booth to ensure that they would
encourage and educate all who took part.

Second Indoor Points Showing Show
Chiverton, Silverwell, Truro
The second of Cornwall Trec
Groups Showing Shows attracted a few new faces. Only the brave came out for
this show as the weather in the morning was far from pleasant with flash hale
storms and heavy rain. The battle for the points championship is hotting up as
we near the half way stage of the points series. Gemma Jones had kindly given
up her time to come and judge. We carefully choose our judges to make sure they
are encouraging to all horse and rider combinations. The young children really
seem to be benefiting and are being a stage braver at each show. The children
are also doing their parents proud by being well behaved throughout the shows. The
young horses are learning well too. Rachel Tremaine took both the inhand and ridden
championships with Penny Greens gorgeous Fenrose Aine. Our next show is Sunday
22nd November at Lakefield Equestrian, Camelford.

First Indoor Points Showing Show
Polean, Pelynt, Nr Looe
Cornwall
Trecs Indoor Points Showing Show Series got under this weekend. The first of
the Shows was held at Polean, Pelynt, Nr Looe. Lucy, Laurie and Cathy were
really pleased with how the day went. The venue was very nice and accommodating
with a few of the resident liveries getting involved. It was nice to see the
familiar faces as well as several new ones. Mrs A Semmens was judge for the day and she sent many home with useful advice for the future. A few of the smaller children had a great day and really got stuck in and had a go which shows what Cornwall Trecs showing shows are all about. Fun, making new friends, support and advice. Dont forget the 2nd of
the points series shows is at Chiverton next week. 8th November
2009.

TREC - Tresallyn Riding Stables - St Merryn
October 2009
A huge thank you to Lorraine,
Pete and all the gang at Tresallyn Riding Stables at St Merryn for being great
hosts & a huge help for our second full TREC of 2009. The day started off a
little murky and wet but the cloud soon lifted and made for a pleasant day. The
lack of help on the day meant there was a fair bit of waiting around for the
competitors but thankfully we were blessed with a lovely understanding gang who
chipped in with help where they could. Thank you everyone!

TREC - Cardinham
28th June 2009
Cornwall Trec Groups first full TREC of the year was a success thanks to all the hard work put in by Lucy & Laurie Booth. An arena format was chosen to run the PTV as this required far less bodies and proved to be popular with spectators. The course was beautifully built by Lucy & Laurie. The committee were all quite nervous about running their first full Trec but with Jane Fishers help and support on the day all went as well as we could have wished for. Cornwall Trec sends out a hugs thank you to Emma Devey for the use of her Lorry all day and to all the helpers who came. Without willing volunteers these events can't and won't run. The weather was perfect as it wasn't too hot and we had just a few warm rain showers.

Evening Show Jumping - Porth Valley & Cornwall Trec Combined Event 13th May 2009
The weather was kind considering the forcast for the Evening Show Jumping at Hendra Paul Farm, Nr Newquay. The Show Jumping was judged by Bev Trebilcock and Pat Hanley kindly came along to help Bev and be First Aider. There was plenty of banter and chatting making for a good atmosphere. Unfortunately the rain did come which made the ground a little slippy towards the end. However, good sensible riding meant that everyone continued to jump safely.

Indoor Winter Series Points Show - FINAL - Pendavey Equestrian 8th March 2009
The final of the 2008/2009 Winter Series Points Show was a great Show.
The Showing classes were well judged by Jill Harris. Jill had a hard task as have all the judges throughout this series of Shows. The Showing Championship of the day went to Megan Semmens on Faith with reserve going to Claire Powell and Mischief.
The points were hotly contested as everyone was after the lovely rosettes and Sash
The Showing points championship was being battled out between Zoe Ainsworth, Abi Stephens , Siena Smith & Rachel Tremaine. At the beginning of the day only 12 points separated the leader, Zoe Ainsworth from 4th place Rachel Tremaine. In the end Zoe Ainsworth & her consistant ride, Fenrose Aine proved to be the winning combination. With a massive 52 points Zoe was the clear winner being 12 points ahead of reserve champion winner, Abi Stephens with her handsome young horse Northern Spell.
The Show Jumping Course was built and judged by the ever enthusiastic and encouraging Jane Fisher.
The Show Jumping points were not so tight. I am sure many of the competitors chasing the points would have been glad not to see Harry Greaves today (No offence Harry) as he was already 13 points ahead of the reserve points winner before the show jumping even got started. Rachel Tremaine worked hard to chase Harry and keep her reserve points champion title. Harry & Benson blew the competition away making sure the Show Jumping Points Champion Rosette & Sash were theirs with a massive 17 point lead over the reserve points Champions Rachel Tremaine & Brock Katrina. Rachel did well to keep her resverve champion title as Sophie Chaplin (Part of the winning Cornwall Trec Indoor Show Jumping Team) was hot on her heels only 5 points behind on 24 points. Rachel's pony was on the Lorry ready to go home when she received her prize but she did do a lovely pretend lap of honour (dared to by her friend Sophie Cain & Cathy Craddock) with the other riders, which raised a few chuckles. What a good sport!
Cornwall Trec would like to thank the judges for their enthusiasm & the time they have given up to come and judge at the show. We would also like to thank everyone who helped out throughout the day. We would also like to thank all of the competitors today who showed fantastic competitive spirit and who were all a pleasure to work with. Thank you.

Indoor Fun Show - Pendavey Equestrian 8th February 2009
Unfortunately the snowy weather put a lot of people off venturing out with their horses. Subsequently the turn out for the Showing Classes were down and the turnout for the Jumping classes was very poor. Luckily all the show jumping competitors were enthusiastic enough to be flexible and compete in small & large open classes instead of the classes listed in the schedule. Carol Masters very kindly came and judged the showing classes. There were some new faces at this show as well as some familiar faces. Carol Sturdy & Penny Clifford judged the Show Jumping classes. The course was built by Lucy Booth.

Indoor Trec 'Kelly Marks Perfect Partners' Winter Series Results 1st February 2009
The second Kelly Marks Indoor Trec was a huge success. The beautifully built and innovative course built by Lucy & Laurie Booth kept the experienced 'Open' Trec riders on their toes but gave the Newcomers a nice encouraging but challenging round. Trec Group decided that just the Kelly Marks classes was not enough. So an Accumulator class was added. That Accumulator class was so popular it was split in to Open and Newcomers. This added some real excitement to the day. There was a lot of discussion on what was the best way to accumulate the points. It will be interesting to see how tactical competitors get at the next indoor Trec after some thinking time.
Because of the addition of new classes the Newcomers class did end up running quite late. We are very grateful for the patience shown by the competitors on such a cold day.
Thank you to all the competitors and helpers who made the day a positive and fun filled event.Thank you to Dr Jeremy Mawer for being our First Aider for the day.

Cornwall Trec Group Winter Points
Series Indoor Show
30th November 2008
The second Points show of the season was a lovely event with novice horses progressing, young riders improving, novice riders and horses/ponies coming along and having a go.
Hannah McIntyre had the difficult task of judging the Showing Classes. Yet again the In-Hand classes were the hardest to judge. Bernie Marsh had put the practice in since the previous show to lift the "Best Grass Kept" title having come second at the last show.
Abi Stephens took the Champion this time having been Reserve at the last show.

Cornwall Trec Group Winter Points
Series Indoor Show
2nd November 2008
The first of Cornwall Trec
Groups Indoor Shows got off to a very positive start.
The morning showed a great
turn out for the fun showing classes judged by Lisa Davey.
The first class Best grass
Kept in hand was a big class and Lisa said after Phew, that was the hardest
class I have judged all this season, the horses and ponies were so well turned
out andall so very different I had to
be extra picky to come up with a winner!
Sophie Cain & Sophie
Chaplin had a good day on their horses Fenrose Aine and Trevillion Tilly, being
placed several times throughout the day.
Six competitors managed to
qualify in the David Broome Qualifiers.
The next Indoor Show is on
the 30th November That will be when the points start to accumulate
and the battle for the most points really gets going. With great prizes up for
grabs along with the points championship.
Points prizes available:
Showing Points Champion
Currently Zoe Ainsworth is in the lead by 5 points and is also the member with
the highest showing points.
Show Jumping Points Champion
Currently Harry Greaves is in the lead by 9 points and is also the member
with the most jumping points
This shows that Cornwall
Trec Members are the ones to watch out for!!!
As always, this event could
not have ran without its helpers. A big thank you to Lauren Moore and her Mum
for stewarding the Show Jumping ring and keeping the poles off the floor!!
Lauren is not a Cornwall Trec member yet she got stuck in.
Thank you to Diane Eden for
turning up and helping with the entries.
Thank you to Lisa Davey and
Jane Fisher for a sterling job of judging (As always).

TREC - Pendavey Equestrian - 19th October 2008
The weather made for a perfect October Trec at Pendavey Equestrian.
Before we talk about the results we would like to mention how refreshing it was to have so much help on offer. Thank you each and every one of you that helped and also to those who provided helpers.
The atmosphere at Pendavey was as relaxed and as friendly as ever. Thank you to the team at Pendavey for all their hard work. We would also like to thank the generous sponsors who gave us lots of vouchers and prizes to give to our prize winners. Thank you to Fliss at Rose Equestrian, Allen & Page, Badminton Horse Feeds & Global Herbs.
The level one pairs was won by Darrel Wheeler & Ashleigh Dennis. Ashleigh and her pony Bonnie are a regular site at events around the local area and with her step father Darrel had a lot of fun at their second Trec and were delighted to win it. There was some concern for the Howard girls as at one point they called in reporting they had seen a sign that said "Roche, 6 miles"!! Fortunately they got back on track and were home well before dark.
The Level Two class was well attended, showing that a lot of trec people are ready to move on up through the levels. Quite a few competitiors had travelled a long way to compete at this event. One pair stayed the night before so their horses was nice and fresh for the event.
Sally Ross & Emma Wilson (from somerset) won the class. Ann & Jacqui who had travelled down the day before took 2nd place making their trip worthwhile. Janet Jones was missing her usual partner in crime, Sue Mawer but for this occasion partnered up with her daughter Felicity to take 5th place. Sue Mawer had to sit back and judge for her friend. Janet did particularly well considering she has been lacking large amounts of sleep due to calving time at home.

with Mandy Tooley of Bolingey Meadows and was delighted with how she has
progressed. Meila Clifford just beat Diane to take the top spot in the Prelim 1
on her young horse Dibbles Barn.
The prelim
17 was the first class of the day to make full use of the 60m x 20 arena. Liz
Frazer Hitch took the red ribbons with her very impressive young horse
Callum. Liz has this very eye catching horse up for sale but said If I dont
sell him then I will go BD with him in the winter when my Eventers are turned
away
Gemma Jones
on her very nice youngster Classical Romance came second to Liz in the Prelim
17 and also was pipped to the post by Hannah McIntyre riding Per Ardua in the
Novice 22.
